Another outstanding article Myrrym. Since we are busy looking at all the wonderful yet scary areas that make up Publication plaza the next logical stop should be How to Not Piss of the Acquisitions Editor seminar. I hope to see a show titled Passive Voice Must Die or Why ~~Death Is What Should Happen to Passive Voice.Does Not Work.~~

I am a big fan of the strike-through, from both the editor’s and writer’s perspective. I usually have someone copy edit my short stories (if I do it, the piece will be edited right out of existence!). It’s amazing to see how much better the manuscript reads after they have worked their magic.

I was fortunate enough to have a copy editor work with me on my first published novella. It was a humbling and enlightening experience. I had strike-throughs coming out of my ears! Since then, I've tried to write as though he's going to be the first reader.
Excellent column, btw.
