Yeah, I know. I think I even wrote to the screenwriter (Karen Walton) and asked if she had plans of novelizing the series, LOL!

Thankfully my take on the vampire is completely original, both the vampire and the storyline. :D

I'm going to want to see that!

lol, they're ice vampires, basically. They have powers of ice, but suck the heat out of their victim's bodies to stay alive, otherwise they'll freeze to death (literally turn into blocks of ice.)

This sounds interesting and just might be the kick in the arse I've been needing to get a shorter novel done in a reasonable amount of time. Maybe teach me a bit about letting go and just writing for the story and worrying about editing later, too. I'm off to check it out and sign up!

So long as I get this one I'm working on right now edited, I'm gonna do it this year.

I wrote a short story a few months ago  that I keep thinking about and wanting to add to/change, to the point where I have pages of information typed out for worldbuilding purposes, and it's definitely turned into a novella in my head.  I'm going to end up throwing all the old stuff out to get it there and start from scratch again. That's legal right? Anyhow, good timing!

(Am also vaguely disturbed by the Zeitgeist-- though said story does not involve vampires or ice, it does involve creatures who are really pissed off about being cold all the time. Then again, when you're dead and spend a lot of time underground, I'm sure that's part of the awkwardness.)

I did it last year, but not "officially" with the signing up or anything. That book is being shopped around to agents now, so I apparently love pressure!! (It's also about 80k...) This year I signed up proper, and I'm kvtaylor. And now to figure out how to use this thing and hunt y'all down there.

Gravediggers is a rad name. Seriously.

Since it's two months away...

Anyone know what they're writing?

Maybe I'll go out on a limb and finished something. I got a kickboxing novel (Yeah, i said kickboxing) that hasn't gone anywhere yet. I've also got another apocalyptic novel, then the longer version of my Harvest Hill story. THEN I have another novella that still hasn't been finished...

 :waiting

Maybe I should, like, let people vote on what I should write. XD That might be easier.

Glenn from Writer Circle does that every year. :D  Seems to work well for him, too.

I think I'm going to work on my half of a New Bedlam omnibus. That is, if I can get my desk clear before then. Sadly, this editing thing has been taking over every spare moment. :)  Well, that and the other issue that's been dogging me and a dozen others. ;)

No clue. I'm thinking of going completely ridiculous, that way I don't have to stress and I can keep my energy up for other projects.

I want to vote!

I have this creepy freaking faerie story set in Appalachia I need to get out. There will be attempted flaying, disturbing non-kissing with the Fae, ramshackle hovels that still have Victrolas, and abandoned mines turned into Creepy Faerie Central.

So what I'm saying is that I'm with Natalie. Completely ridiculous and stress free!

Latest NaNoWriMo Newsletter

Dear NaNoWriMo Author,

NaNoWriMo's 10th anniversary year is almost upon us! We have some NaNo news bits for you before the site relaunches on October 1 and another beautiful season of novel procrastination begins.

NANOWRIMO.ORG LOCKED ON SUNDAY FOR SCRUBBING
We'll be turning off new sign-ups, locking the forums, and turning off NaNoMail-sending from Sunday, September 21 until October 1 so we can archive the site and delete all forums posts. This will free up database space for the 800,000 new posts we're expecting this fall. We'll also be deleting all NaNoMails that are more than a year old. If you have any old NaNoMails that you want to keep, be sure to go in and grab 'em before Sunday.

DONATION STATION & STORE HAS GREAT "NEW T-SHIRT" SMELL
Thanks to Tavia's whip-cracking skills, we have our 10th Anniversary NaNoWriMo t-shirt, the Young Writers Program t-shirt, and our stunning new travel mug in the Office of Letters and Light store. Our donor goodies are ready too! You want seven years of NaNoWriMo pep talks from me with embarrassing behind-the-scenes commentaries? You got it! And, uh, this year's poster? Yowza.

OUR DREAM: 10 FOR 10
We have a 10th-anniversary dream that 10% of Wrimos will support NaNoWriMo with a donation this year. Please join our "10 for 10" revolution by chipping in something small towards our costs.

2008 PEP TEAM IN PLACE, RARING TO GO
One of the great things about NaNoWriMo is the pep-talking you get in November. These bi-weekly emails are scientifically calibrated to make you feel so inspired and/or guilt-ravaged that you sit down and work on your novel even when you don?t want to work on your novel. This spring, we asked what authors you would like to receive pep talks from, then tabulated your responses on the NaNoWriMo blog, and sent out invitations to the 50 most-requested folks. Who answered our Invitations to Pep? You'll have to wait until the site relaunches on October 1 to find out. But we're pretty dang excited.

NANOWRIMO SITE SWEETER, MORE SERVER-Y
Thanks to donations from our 2007 participants and our summer vintage-sticker fundraising drive, you'll see some new features and improvements when the site relaunches. These include the ability to update your word count from every page of the site, a place to add a synopsis and book cover image to your author profile, and a more feature-rich NaNoMail. We've also moved your "action links" into your profile (instead of hiding them up in the masthead) and invested almost $10,000 in extra hardware and server testing to give the site as much zip as possible. We know it'll still get very slow right around November 1, but our servers are now rippling with new muscles to help them lift the load better.

GEEK? LET US HIRE THEE!
Our longtime tech guru Russ is sadly retiring at the end of this year's event, so we're looking to bring a new Tech Director on board in December. We're interviewing candidates now. Check out the listing on our Help Wanted page. Then quit your job, move to the Bay Area, and come join our team.

Looking forward to seeing you in NaNoLand in a few weeks,

Chris
NaNoWriMo

I will be setting up the Gravediggers thread once the forum reopens October 1.  Also if you sign up please make sure you buddy me so I can keep track of how many GST members participate this year.

I am going to get a NaNoWriMo t-shirt. $20 each. They are kick ass

Hey Sharon! YAY!

I"ve added you - and I see you added me too, but that was an old account. I stuck with Jodi-Lee after the failed 'two NaNo' year.... LOL ;)
