Has anyone else seen this?

I thought the movie was great.  Spectacular C.G.!  Benecio nailed the role perfectly I.M.O.  What do you think?

No plot spoilers, people, please!

I'll be checking this one out either Monday or Wednesday, depending on suitable viewing times at my local theatre. Looking forward to it immensely.

Unbelievable.  My neighbor just offered to watch my kids tonight.  I'll be seeing it in a couple of hours!

I have not seen this one yet but I plan on it real soon.  As most who know me I have a special place in my heart for werewolves.  You really wanna get our attention with your submissions write compelling stories about werewolves and other were-creatures.

Saw it last night and thought it was a great film. Very atmospheric, scary in parts, with a good dash of blood and guts. The gypsy camp scene was one of my favorites and the transformation in the asylum is one of the better transformation scenes I've seen since An American Werewolf in London.

Anybody wondering whether they should see it, I'd say "Yes; you should!"

I'm interested, bit it's hard to get me to the movie theater these days.  I'll probably catch it on DVD.

I hear ya.  I saw it from the THIRD row, staring straight up at the the big screen while my neck whispered sweet little death threats to my overworked ears, lol.  But it was worth it, though.

I have had the 'bad' experience where people rest their feet behind you, bring their kids (still in diapers on a Saturday NIGHT! - like 11 pm) to a horror movie - and their food from home.  Nothing like a LARGE bag of Doritos to ruin a flick.  <--- All that happened during 'The Strangers', I believe.  Good times, good times, lol.

Sometimes the DVD is worth the wait.

Saw it over the weekend.  Kudos for the eye candy (which was extremely well done), but overall . . . meh.  I like it no more and no less than the original.

That said, the theater-going experience was unusually pleasant this time 'round.  Not once was I blinded by the glare of some teenybopper's effing iPhone, nor were there any screaming children to be heard.  Bonus!   :penguin2

There used to be a dollar theater here that got the movies a few weeks after they were out of the regular theater.  The place was trashy and unkempt, but no one really went there much, so you could watch a movie without all the baggage.  Now it's a big friggin' church and all the businesses in the strip mall have since closed shop.

Glad you liked the movie, though.

I remember going to see the opening day showing of Hostel.  I was truly shocked at the parents who brought their younger children (not even close to teenage) to see the movie.

We had one around here and it got turned into an oriental restaurant, lol.  There's another one the next city over, and it has beer, pizza, and lots of good times!

I guess I'll be the party pooper. I had high hopes but came away disappointed. The gypsy camp scene was terrific. It all kind of went downhill from there for me. I'm not a big fan of CGI so maybe that was it or maybe Hopkins and Del Toro's acting. I'm not sure which of the three things was the biggest turn off for me. The original, An American Werewolf in London and Dog Soldiers are still the leaders of the pack to me. I love movies that still use costume and make-up effects. I'll always have a special place in my heart for the Monster Squad wolfman.
I never fear killing off a character I love. Everyday people watch the ones they love die. It hurts a reader to have a character they have learned to love die right there in their hands and no amount of whiteout will change that. A reality check like that makes all the fiction stuff seem all the more plausible. When I sat with my mother as she died I realized how true these words were. The best thing about fiction is that you can always pick up the book again and read life back into the characters you loved. Unlike life, people in books never truly die forever.
